In what is being seen as a significant move forward, the main contractor has been appointed for a major update to water works in County Clare.
P J Finn Brothers will tackle the work involved in the Moyglass Tiermanagh Water Scheme Upgrade.
According to www.unearthore.com phase one of the upgrade consists of laying approximately 1,050 linear metres of 100 mm diameter replacement mains with all existing valves or fittings.
In addition new 100 mm diameter mains and controls at an existing pump house location and a small bridge crossing will also be included in the project.The installation of new water meters for existing consumers on new and existing water mains will be completed.
Also outlined in the tender documents was the replacement of an existing roadside kiosk pump set with a new kiosk. This kiosk is complete with twin booster multistage inline pumps and controls.
Main construction work commenced on site during early September, 2011 and the contract period is estimated at six months. The cost of the scheme is in the region of €300k.
