Waterford Development Denied Permission

Construction News Image
A developer has been refused planning permission for a series of semi-detached and terraced houses in Waterford.

According to www.unearthore.com the development for the 'active retired', comprising 41 single-storey homes, was rejected due to the site needing to remain clear, until plans for a new ring road have been completed.

Waterford City Council approved plans for Maypark House Nursing Home on April 20, this year but a third party appeal was submitted against the decision by Richard Kervick to An Bord Pleanala on May 17.

After considering the appeal An Bord Pleanala refused permission on September, 22.

The development would have been for the active retired comprising 41 single-storey detached, semi-detached and terraced houses and a single-storey extension to the existing gatelodge.

Accommodation was to consist of 29 two-bedroom detached houses, six two-bedroom semi-detached houses, six 3-bedroom terraced houses and extension to the existing gatelodge , which is a protected structure.

Permission was also sought for a new connection via a pumping system to the existing public sewer, internal access roads, landscaping and ancillary siteworks.

The project, if given the green light, would have been built to the design created by James Bourke Architects.
