Bennett Construction Ltd have successfully handed over the new Cardiac Angiography Unit for Bon Secours Hospital in Glasnevin, Dublin.

The €1 million project comprises of the construction of a new single storey Cardiac Angiography Unit at second floor level. The new extension was built over the roof of the existing X-Ray Department while it remained live.

The Installation of the steel frame and tie into the existing roof structures formed a logistical challenge requiring careful and coordinated approaches by Bennett Management, our in house Services Coordinator, Safety Department and our Supply Chain Members to ensure weathering and existing services remained intact at all times. The provision of protected walkways and canopies were required to facilitate the installation of the Kingspan wall cladding, roof decking and curtain walling to the link corridor.

The unit itself includes a Recovery Area, Preparation Areas, Toilets, Control Room, Angio Lab Diagnostic Room, Clean/Dirty Utility Rooms and all associated equipment.

Floor infill and associated works were required in the existing hospital to facilitate the new 2nd floor access link, with the cladding and curtain walling installed over live areas.

The scope also included the upgrading of an existing plant room area with pump sets, sluice and water tanks with upgrade works to electrical panels.
