ESB Electric Ireland Prepares Customers For Winter

ESB Electric Ireland is reminding everyone to start preparing in plenty of time as harsher weather conditions approach.

During last year's Big Freeze, Ireland came to a standstill and according to the Irish Insurance Federation press office, insurers paid out over €224 million to homeowners and businesses, with the worst affected counties in Cork, Galway and Dublin. Whilst, the hope is that similar arctic conditions are not repeated this winter, it’s still important to get winter ready and ESB Electric Ireland has lots of practical products available from its online store www.esbstore.ie, for everything from a mild to a bitterly cold winter, whatever the conditions.

ESB Electric Ireland also has a range of products to protect against frost damage in the home or office. These include Knauf insulation rolls for the attic, cold water tank insulation kits, an attic door insulation kit, and Armaflex self-seal insulation for water pipes. The online store also stocks an infra-red lamp kit that can be placed near water tanks. This kit comes with a plug-in thermostat which can be set to switch the infra-red lamp on automatically when temperatures get very low. Home owners can also protect central heating boilers with a Sunvic frost protection kit that will automatically switch on a boiler in a garage or shed when air temperatures get very low. ESB Electric Ireland has also introduced a new product call Raychem trace heating. This is a self-regulating heat cable that gives off heat when attached to a cold water pipe and will help prevent water pipes from freezing.

Jim Curren, Business Development, ESB Electric Ireland said: "It is hard to believe that Ireland was covered in a blanket of snow and experienced such severe frost for such a long period of time last winter. I think that we have all learned the hard way that preparation is key, and whilst a repeat of last year’s arctic conditions is not looking likely, ESB Electric Ireland is committed to making life a little easier for customers by offering a variety of products from our online store that will get them ready for any weather that may lie ahead!"
