SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey has said he is concerned that Lecky Road residents are being discriminated against by energy companies after gas companies offered a supply to some houses but not others in the area.

Mr Ramsey said: "I intend to raise with the relevant company the issues behind what seems to be a farcical situation whereby a number of houses in the Lecky Road area have been offered a switch-over to a gas supply, but houses maybe one or two doors away have not been."

Mr Ramsay said it is "crucial" companies offer offer choice to the consumer on an equal basis.

He concluded: "Not only is it good business, it may well help to alleviate the problems faced by those in fuel poverty with energy costs."
