Labour TD for Galway West has welcomed the news that work is to begin on the former laundry plant in Rahoon for US software giant ZeniMax Online Studios - with the creation of 200 jobs.
Derek Nolan said he was delighted to hear that the company was granted permission for the conversion of the site in the Rahoon Business Park, which will see a change of use of the industrial building to technology office use.
Mr Nolan said: "I welcome the approval of this planning application by the city planners, which will see around 200 jobs being created by the company by mid-April.
"At a time when creating jobs is absolutely paramount, it is a great boost for Galway city for work to be beginning on this development, and I am encouraged by the fact that there is great potential for even more jobs to be created on the land adjacent to the site."
Mr Nolan also welcomed the recent announcement that OpenJaw are to create 10 new jobs in its regional office in Galway as part of an Enterprise Ireland-supported €3.3m R&D investment.
