The award was for the rehabilitation of 20km of old cast iron water mains dating back to the 1920's which no longer support the expanding needs of the city. The works are located in the city centre areas of Drumcondra, Four Courts and Grand Canal. Murphy is working with consulting engineer RPS on this ambitious project to complete the works.

The pipes range in diameter from 100 to 300 mm and Murphy is utilising a range of specialist techniques including pipe bursting, slip lining, swage lining and open cut to complete the project. More than 1,500 connections to residential and commercial properties will also be renewed.
Murphy, based in Newbridge, has begun on site and the project is due for completion this summer.
