FF Calls Kildare Public Information Meeting On Septic Tank Charges

Kildare South Fianna Fáil TD Seán Ó Fearghaíl has called a public information meeting for this Thursday, February 16th, to discuss the Government's plans for inspections and charges for households with Septic Tanks.

Deputy Ó Fearghaíl said: "The legislation being brought in by the Government will have considerable implications for rural dwellers and there has been a lot of concern about the implications of the new conditions.

"The Environment Minister Phil Hogan recently announced that the registration fee will be dropped from €50 to €5 for those who register in the first three month. However I believe this misses the point. The main cause for concern that has been raised with me is the potential high cost of upgrading tanks that fail inspection and the regulations that will govern the inspection regime."

Deputy Ó Fearghaíl continued: "My colleague and Fianna Fáil's Deputy Leader Éamon Ó Cuív and Dr. Eugene Bolton of Trinity Green Environmental Solutions will be available to discuss people’s concerns and will take part in a question and answer session. Dr. Bolton is an expert in this area and will provide valuable advice on the upcoming consultation process that is being initiated."
