SIPTU representatives met with the management of Balfour Beatty CLG Limited to discuss a proposal by the construction company to implement up to 76 redundancies.
SIPTU Organiser John Regan said: "The meeting with the management of Balfour Beatty CLG Limited was constructive and both sides are committed to meaningful engagement concerning the proposed redundancies. SIPTU is committed to ensuring the greatest number of jobs possible are maintained at the company and believe that a local agreement can be reached with company management on any eventual redundancies without the intervention of the State’s industrial relations machinery."
He added: "Proposed redundancy terms and the need to maximise the number of workers directly employed by the company were among the issues discussed at the meeting. The details of these discussions will be presented to the over 300 union members at Balfour Beatty CLG Limited at a general meeting of workers scheduled for 3.00 p.m. on the 1st March in Liberty Hall, Dublin."
SIPTU and TEEU members at Balfour Beatty CLG will attend the general meeting in Liberty Hall.
