Byrne Calls For Agreed Solution To Beragh Flood Defences

SDLP West Tyrone MLA Joe Byrne has welcomed the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development's announcement that residents of Beragh will be included in the process of establishing flood defences in the area.

Mr Byrne had urged the Minister to expedite discussions with the Beragh community in order to finalise the draft design scheme to tackle the flood problem there.

Speaking after the Minister stated that work would commence in 2013-14 with residents being fully informed as scheme designs are drawn up and construction begins, Mr Byrne said: "I welcome the Minister's reply and I hope this process produces an agreed solution that meets the future flood prevention needs of the people of Beragh."
