Minister Nelson Mc Causland paid a visit to Belfast couple John and Lillian Tooke to see their new kitchen replacement.

The Tooke's home is one of the 196 homes involved in a £750,000 kitchen replacement scheme in the Ballysillan/ Silverstream area.

During the visit the minister said: "I was really pleased to have this opportunity to meet Lillian and John in their home, just as they’ve had work on their new kitchen completed. I sincerely hope that they enjoy the full benefits of the work that has been carried out."

The Northern Ireland Housing Executive is responsible for the scheme, which will see work carried out on 192 houses and four flats. Tenants can choose their own work units, worktops and tiles from a range of options. Electrical appliances will be upgraded and new floor covering and cooker hood will be provided. Smoke and heat detectors will also be installed or upgraded as necessary.
