The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) says the DAFT’s Buyers’ Attitudes Survey is a very positive indication for the Irish housing market.
The survey revealed that 60% of prospective buyers intend to purchase a property within the next two years or sooner.
Speaking in reaction to the survey, CIF Director of Development Housing and Planning Services, Hubert Fitzpatrick said: "This is a very positive signal for the housing market in this country, particularly in the urban areas. It is the first clear indication that more people intend to enter into the housing market over the next couple of years."
"Three out of every five people who responded to the survey said they intend to buy property over the course of the next couple of years. Over 37% intend on buying within the next year. That is a clear shift in attitude amongst the public to the Irish housing market. However when you add in the recently highlighted rising rental prices it is not surprising people are looking at purchasing a home rather than renting property," he added.
