Day Care Centre Moves To Newly Refurbished Premises

The HSE has announced ce the relocation of St. Patrick's Day Care Centre in Tralee into the newly refurbished Day Care Centre in Dean's Lane, Moyderwell.

The move forms part of the major reinvestment and regeneration project taking place in the Mitchels / Boherbee area of the town which is led by the Tralee Town Council (TTC) and The Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government. As part of this project, the Day Care Centre has been developed in a partnership between TTC and the HSE.

St Patrick's Day Care Centre provides an important service in the continuum of care necessary in supporting older person at home. St Patrick's Day Care Centre caters for up to 40 clients daily from Tralee and surrounding urban and the rural catchment areas. The centre provides a range of services such as tea /coffee on arrival, mid-day meal, afternoon tea, nursing services, laundry and allied health professionals such as physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Musical, social and recreational activities also forms an important part of the day. A variety of health promoting activities take place throughout the year including Positive Ageing Week.

The Centre is fortunate to be supported by a FAS Community Employment Scheme and a number of participants work in the Centre and provide invaluable support to the people attending the centre.

Welcoming the newly refurbished centre, Eithne McAuliffe, Manager Primary Care & Specialist Services with the HSE in Kerry said: "The opening of this facility has been a priority for the HSE in Kerry for the continued development of services for older people in the area. The facility offers much greater space for activities, improved kitchen, day room and dining room facilities. The centre also has an enclosed landscaped garden for the clients. I want to congratulate and acknowledge all those involved with this new development and wish the clients and staff the very best in their new environment."
