The Labour Relations Commission (LRC) has informed SIPTU that the owners of Vita Cortex are prepared to enter mediation talks. SIPTU Manufacturing Division Organiser, Gerry McCormack, said that the workers, who have been occupying the former foam manufacturing plant at Kinsale Road Cork for 111 days, have welcomed the latest development.
"We were informed early today by the LRC that the owners of Vita Cortex have agreed to enter the process it proposed some weeks ago which can hopefully resolve this long running dispute," Gerry McCormack said.
"We understand that the LRC will commence immediately to set up the mediation process through which the parties can engage.
"The workers which SIPTU represents at the plant have met and have welcomed this development."
