New Kitchens For Shankill Tenants

Seventy Housing Executive tenants living in Berlin Street, Brussels Street and Paris Street in the Shankill area of Belfast are getting brand new kitchens in a scheme worth over £275,000.

The homes, which are a mixture of bungalows, flats and houses, built between 1985 and 1989 have been upgraded on a regular basis. As part of the current scheme the original kitchens will be replaced and tenants will be able to select their units, worktop and tiles from a range of options – a new cooker hood and floor covering will complete the look. Electrical and plumbing installations will also be upgraded to cater for modern day appliances and smoke and heat detectors installed or upgraded as necessary.


Tenants have been involved in every aspect of the scheme; from planning the layout and design of their new kitchen to selecting their units and worktop. We find that this type of collaborative work not only brings great results but ensures that tenants get the kitchen they really want.
