Education Minister, John O’Dowd has officially opened new nursery accommodation at Bunscoil an tSléibhe Dhuibh in west Belfast.
During the visit to the school on the Ballymurphy Road, the Minister met with pupils, staff, parents and members of the local community. He also planted a tree in memory of Patsy Jack, a Nursery Assistant at the school who died in 2009.
The Minister said: "It has been a pleasure to visit Bunscoil an tSléibhe Dhuibh today and I welcome the opportunity to officially open their new nursery accommodation. I believe that early intervention benefits the educational outcomes of our children. That is why, earlier this week, I announced that an additional £13.1million will be available over the next three years, to be invested in early years education."
Concluding, the Minister thanked everyone for the warm welcome extended to him. He said: "I would like to commend acting Principal, Róisìn Ní Ghadhra, and all the teachers and staff for their continuing hard work and wish all the pupils every success in the future."
