Labour T.D. for Louth, Gerald Nash has welcomed the resolution of the industrial dispute at the Irish Cement plant at Platin, Co. Meath.
A dispute over the implementation of a Labour Court recommendation continued for several weeks.
"I was happy to support the very reasonable request from workers at the plant to have the terms of a recent Labour Court recommendation in respect of their pay arrangements implemented.
"Significant progress was made over the last two weeks through the involvement of ICTU, IBEC and an independent Chair who worked with the company and the workers at Platin and Limerick in order to have the matters at hand resolved.
"I am pleased that the conclusion of this dispute has also provided for an agreement on new structures to enhance industrial relations practices in the operation.
"Credit is due to the workers at the plants involved who have made sacrifices in the context of the dispute and for the courage they have shown in having the dispute resolved."
