Roads Service have announced plans to start four kilometres of resurfacing work on the M1 Westbound between Junction 12 The Birches and Junction 13 Beattie’s Corner near Portadown.
The road works will run from Friday 8 June to Monday 11 June 2012.
Mark McPeak, Roads Service’s Project Manager said: "These essential works will strengthen the M1 so that it can carry today’s very high traffic volumes, provide a high quality and an even running surface, thereby improving the safety and comfort of road users."
The works operations and traffic management arrangements have been carefully programmed to minimise inconvenience to the travelling public, however some disruption will be unavoidable. A diversion route will be signed during all closures.
To facilitate the works and for safety reasons, it will be essential to close the M1 during these works.
Mr McPeak continued: "The work has been scheduled during the summer months to take advantage of the reduced traffic flows and working times will be restricted to overnight and weekends. However, some delays will be inevitable and we would ask that motorists be patient as these essential works progress.
"As always, the timing and completion of the works will depend on weather conditions and scheme progression and therefore could be subject to changes."
