Supply to 113,000 customers in the Republic of Ireland and 45,000 customers in Northern Ireland was disrupted, at 14:56pm yesterday, due to temporary faults at two generators, ESB has announced.
It caused the electrical frequency to fall temporarily, resulting in interruptions to customers across the Island of Ireland.
Systems which were designed to resolve these incidents all worked correctly and the frequency of power was restored to normal in 5 to 7 minutes. The vast majority of customers had supply restored in 7 minutes, while for a minority of those affected restoration took about approximately 35 minutes.
