A kite caused a power cut in the Dungannon area on Monday when it became entangled with 11,000 volt overhead electricity equipment in the rural area of Granville.
Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) emergency crews disconnected electricity supplies to 64 homes in the area at 20.24 in order to remove the kite safely and inspect the overhead line. Customers had power restored by 21:19.
Kevin McDowell, Head of Health, Safety and Environment at NIE said: "It is very fortunate that no-one was hurt in this incident. When a kite touches an NIE overhead line, the electricity will try to get to ground through the kite, and whoever is flying it could be electrocuted. We would remind all parents and children to always look up and look out for NIE overhead electricity lines, in particular, when playing with kites, balloons or other airborne toys."
