Avondale Site Bought By New Owners

SDLP Derry City Councillor Angela Dobbins has made enquiries about an abandonment order on the former Avondale Nursing Home in Culmore, which has become a hotspot for anti-social behavior.

Cllr Dobbins said she welcomes recent news that the site has been purchased by news owners and they have given assurances that it will be properly secured.

She said: "The former Avondale Nursing Home in Culmore has been a hotspot for vandalism and antisocial behaviour of late. After being approached by surrounding residents with concerns for the safety of their property and children, I made enquiries about an abandonment order regarding the property.

"I therefore welcome news that it has been recently purchased and have been given assurances that measures to secure the building will be in place very soon.

"This is good news and I know local residents will be thankful that the site will be secured properly."
