Senator Averil Power has called on the Government to take responsibility for ensuring that a fair and just resolution is put in place for the residents of Priory Hall, who have now been out of their homes for over a year.

Speaking before she joined the residents' "March for Justice" in Donaghmede, Senator Power said: "It is shocking that a full year after they were evacuated from their homes, a long-term solution to the residents' housing problems has still not been agreed. To make matters worse, they are still living in constant fear that Dublin City Council will be successful in its Supreme Court appeal to stop funding temporary accommodation for their families.

"One year on, the Priory Hall families are still going through hell while the Government continues to ignore them and Minister Phil Hogan still won't even agree to meet them. This needs to end now. The Government must take responsibility for ensuring that a fair and just resolution is put in place without further delay."
