Denis Moriarty To Carry Out Foundation Work At Carn Hill Wind Farm

Gaelectric has lined up Denis Moriarty for foundation work at its 13.8MW Carn Hill wind farm in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.

The substation at the site is set to be built by specialist player Cafferkey. Turbine delivery is slated for November when Enercon will supply six 2.3MW E70s. The developer is in a race to get the project commissioned before the Renewables Obligation re-banding deadline next April. Preliminary enabling works at the site were undertaken by Graham’s earlier in the year.

Separately, Gaelectric has landed planning permission for two wind farms that will push the company over the 100MW mark in the North. Planning NI has issued final approval for the 16.1MW Smulgedon near Garvagh in Limavady and the 9.2MW Monnaboy in Derry, both due online in 2015.

The developer is in advanced talks with a number of potential investors with a view to completing a €73m onshore wind funding drive by the year-end.
