Deputy Arthur Spring has welcomed the news that monies have been paid to subcontractors for work on the Tralee-Dingle road, and the blockade there has been lifted.
He said:"This is good news for all parties concerned and indeed for the county, now that construction on the road will go ahead. I am particularly satisfied for the subcontractors who will now be paid for their work.
"I have been working closely with the subcontractors to facilitate a resolution of this issue. This has involved regular meetings and contact with the subcontractors themselves, and liaising with their legal team, the contractors, and with Kerry County Council. Tom Parlon of the Construction Industry Federation also contacted me to offer the services of his team in assisting in negotiations.
"Since the parties first made contact with me, I sought to bring the parties together and thrash out all the issues in a reasonable and straight-forward way. My number one is concern was that the subcontractors involved be paid for the work they have done. Today brings good news, they will now be paid, the blockade will be lifted, and I welcome that this issue has now been resolved."
