Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy announced the start of a £110,000 major resurfacing scheme on West Street, Stewartstown, Co Tyrone, this week.
Preparatory work which commenced prior to the Christmas holidays has now been completed and the main resurfacing work is due to begin on 12 January 2013 between Sherrigrim Road and The Square in Stewartstown.
The Minister said: "This scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this important route between Cookstown and Stewartstown."
Due to the restricted carriageway width available in West Street and to help minimise any potential conflict between the site works and traffic associated with the travelling public and the local school and businesses, it will be necessary the close West Street to through traffic for the period 12 to 20 January 2013. Diversions will be signposted via Coagh, Newmills and Coalisland. Local access will be retained.
The scheme is expected to be substantially completed on 20 January 2013.
The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.
