Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy announced the start of a £107,000 resurfacing scheme on the B53 Craigstown Road this week.
The work is due to begin on today between Drumsough Road and Ballylurgan Road. The planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.
The Minister said: "These resurfacing works will increase the structural strength of the road.
"Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public. However, motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys."
To help minimise any inconvenience to the travelling public and local businesses the majority of this work is programmed to be completed using lane closures.
The lane closures are due to start on 21 January 2013 and continue until 8 February 2013. During lane closures two-way traffic flow will be maintained.
A full closure of the Craigstown Road will be in place on 1,2,5 and 6 February to allow final surfacing and all traffic will be diverted using the advertised diversion.
