Ravenhill Stadium To Host Seminar

Construction News Image
Belfast City Council has said an information seminar on upcoming procurement opportunities surrounding the redevelopment of Ravenhill Stadium is to be held.

The seminar will be held at the grounds of Ulster Rugby on 22 March.

The event is open to businesses within Belfast's construction sector, including suppliers and sub-contractors. On the night, they will be informed of the work scheduled to take place at the stadium as well as how they can express an interest in both current and future sub-contracting opportunities. Local businesses will also be able to meet with representatives from Gilbert-Ash who won the contract for the redevelopment of the rugby ground.

When completed, Ravenhill will see its stadium capacity increase from 11,712 to 18,000 spectators. Redevelopment work will include the construction of two new stands which will feature indoor training and warm up areas, a retail/museum area, lecture and media rooms and hospitality facilities.

Attendees will also be informed about the timescale for future procurement events linked to sub-contracting opportunities available at both Windsor and Casement Parks.

The Northern Ireland Executive has pledged £25.2m to the Irish Football Association to develop Windsor Park in south Belfast, while £61.4m has been committed for the Ulster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association to refurbish Casement Park in the west of the city.

Contractors will be appointed to begin work on both projects later this year following procurement exercises.

The information seminar has been organised by Belfast City Council in partnership with the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (SCAL) and the Department for Employment and learning (DEL).

Businesses interested in attending the seminar need to register with Belfast City Council prior to the event.
