Damien Mulley, founder of the Irish Social Media Awards said: "The idea of the awards is to give everyone at different levels and with different budgets an equal chance of having their work highlighted and evaluated.

"This year we feel it is important to recognise those companies using social media as their only marketing tool, hence we created the Social Media Only Campaign. We expect this category to be competitive and look forward to seeing the entries."

Commenting on the sponsorship, Digital and Social Media Manager at Bord Gáis Energy Eoin O'Suilleabhain said: "Irish companies have successfully integrated social media into their business, marketing and customer relationship strategies and with over 2.2 million Facebook users and over 830,000 Twitter users in Ireland, it is a channel that must be embraced.

"We want to recognise the talent and outstanding results being achieved by businesses nationwide. Every year we see new and innovative techniques being used through social media and I am sure this year will be no exception."
