KLA Invite Building Contractors For Small Building Works

Kilkenny Local Authorities (KLA) is inviting expressions of interest from qualified competent Building Contractors to be included on a panel from which tenders will be invited for small building works for both KLA and voluntary bodies within County Kilkenny.

The purpose of the panel is to streamline the procurement of contractors for smaller building works and to minimise administrative delays in commencing works on site. The panel will apply to relevant works contracts tendered for the period May 2013 to May 2015. The term of the panel may be extended for a further period of one year at the discretion of KLA.

The administrative deadline for receipt of initial applications in respect of the panel is Wednesday the 17th April 2013 at 12 noon.

Tenderers must register their interest for the initial application via the eTenders web site. However, this administrative deadline will not preclude other interested parties from making an application to KLA to be considered to be admitted to the panel during the remaining term of the panel.

All works will be located within County Kilkenny in either Kilkenny County Council [Newrath, Callan, Thomastown, Kilkenny Environs or Castlecomer Areas] or Kilkenny Borough Council's functional area. Applicants are advised that the boundaries of these operational areas may be subject to change during the term of this panel.

Tenders will be invited from those contractors admitted to the panel in respect of the following:

•small building works for Kilkenny Local Authority housing needs;

•small building works on Kilkenny Local Authority corporate buildings; and

•small building works required for Voluntary Housing Bodies within County Kilkenny.

Building and civil engineering construction works under this panel include, but are not limited to:

•Construction of single or two storey dwellings;

•Construction of house extensions and adaptations including Disabled Persons Grants;

•Refurbishment and maintenance works to Local Authority houses and buildings including demolition;

•Retrofitting and other energy measures to Local Authority houses and buildings;

•External works such as drainage, landscaping, driveways; and

•Off site excavation and reinstatement works.

Works may also consist of procurement and installation of equipment for waste water treatment plants, and products for building energy efficiency & renewable energy technologies, manufactured by Specialists selected by the Contracting Authority.
