SDLP Councillor Brian Heading has welcomed a proposed recommendation that a derelict property at 121 Upper Dunmurry Lane, which is owned by the bank, be demolished.
Cllr Heading: "I am very glad to hear that the derelict property at 121 Upper Dunmurry Lane is to be demolished. For some time I have been concerned that the building is a danger to children living and playing in this area.
"This building has been a real eyesore for residents and I welcome the decision to finally remove it.
"I have been given assurances that any rubble that will remain as a result of the demolition will be removed from the site.
At a meeting with Environment Minister Alex Attwood I stressed the importance of tackling derelict and vacant lands in the area which are posing a considerable risk to families and that are a blight on the landscape."
