Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has announced a new start date for an £80,000 major road works scheme on a section of Urney Road, within the village of Clady, Strabane.

Following on from an earlier postponement of this scheme, road works is now due to begin on Monday 8 April from the Urney Road/Tullymoan Road junction for a distance of 140m to the Urney Road/Cluney Gardens.

The Minister said: "I am pleased that this scheme has now been rescheduled to begin on 8 April, and hope that the revised start date has not been disruptive to the people of Clady, the businesses and those who use this road.

"The scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this stretch of road within Clady Village."

Due to the restricted carriageway width available on the Urney Road and to help minimise any potential conflict between the site works and traffic associated with the travelling public, it has been necessary to close the 140m section to through traffic from 8 April to 28 April. Diversions will be signposted via Strabane and Lifford. Local access will be retained.

The scheme is expected to be substantially completed on 28 April 2013.
