A Co Tyrone firm, P & F Construction, Aghaboy Road, Omagh, pleaded guilty and was fined £1,000, with court costs of £31, to making a polluting discharge to a waterway at Omagh Magistrates' court.
On 7 November 2011, a Water Quality Inspector, acting on behalf of the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, was called to take a statutory sample of sewage effluent being discharged from a housing development adjacent to 15 Tirmurty Road, Omagh. The effluent was entering a local unnamed waterway. The sewage treatment for the development was managed by P & F Construction.
Laboratory analysis of the sample confirmed that it contained poisonous, noxious or polluting material which would have been potentially harmful to fish life in the receiving waterway.
