Jazz Pharmaceuticals To Locate Subject To Planning Permission

Fine Gael TD for Roscommon, Frank Feighan, has welcomed the announcement by leading biopharmaceutical company, Jazz Pharmaceuticals, a global specialty biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Ireland, that it is to locate its manufacturing facility in Monksland in County Roscommon, subject to planning permission.

An initial 50 jobs will be created if the project goes ahead, while a further 40 jobs are expected to be created during the construction phase.


Mr Feighan said: "In April of this year, I met with the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, and regional IDA officials to highlight the need for job creation opportunities in Roscommon and East Galway. I am delighted that significant moves are afoot to develop this manufacturing plant in Monksland.

"Discussions on the sale of the 17 acre site in Monksland to Jazz Pharmaceuticals will go before next week's meeting of Roscommon County Council and I look forward to a positive outcome which will allow this development to commence.

"Working with the IDA and Roscommon County Council, the pharmaceutical company identified the Monksland site with a view to constructing a manufacturing facility. This site is among 15 hectares of zoned land owned by Roscommon County Council in Monksland, which has become a major employment hub for people in Roscommon and the wider region."
