Energia, Ireland's leading independent energy supplier, has made a donation of £20,000 to one of the country's most valued charitable organisations. Having had a target to raise £10,000 it has been an outstanding effort to raise £20,000.
Staff in Energia's offices across Ireland raised £20,000 for the MS Society and MS Ireland, and will go towards the charity's work with people with MS and their families, carers and others who are interested in or concerned about the disease.
The charity was nominated by Energia as its charity of the year 2012/2013 and the Charity Committee's Chairperson, Irene McKenna, said it is a very worthwhile cause.
She said: "Choosing our charity of the year is always a rigorous process as each charity is such a good cause. We are delighted to be able to donate this money straight to MS Society and MS Ireland to help them continue with the amazing work they do.
"Fundraising has been a lot of fun with staff taking part in coffee mornings, wearing Christmas jumpers, bring and buy sales, ballots and draws including a signed Rory McIlroy flag from the US Open, and of course, the adrenaline events such as a skydive, zip lining and fire walking!"
