SDLP Councillor Angela Dobbins has raised her concerns regarding existing traffic problems at the Glengalliagh Road/Bradley Pass junction in Shantallow.
Whilst welcoming the construction of seventy new social houses at Bradley Pass, she has highlighted the need for DRD to currently address the road infrastructure, in particular, the junction onto Racecourse Road.
Councillor Dobbins said: "Traffic and pedestrian usage has increased in the surrounding area due to the development of Bradley Pass Housing, development of former Marion Hall and the upgrade of Leafair Sports Pavilion.
"The response from DRD that additional traffic lights will be installed after the redevelopment of Northside Centre is just not good enough. There has been an increase in the number of traffic accidents occurring in this area and it will not be long before there is a tragedy.
"I would urge DRD to deal with these on-going issues as a matter of priority. The SDLP will continue to make representations to Roads Service until this road is made safer for all road users."
