A resurfacing scheme on Massey Avenue, Belfast is due to commence on Monday 5 August 2013.
The £337,000 scheme involves the resurfacing of the footways and carriageway in the street and is expected to take approximately seven weeks to complete.
During the works, two-way traffic flow will be maintained along Massey Avenue. However, to ensure public safety, it will be necessary to close one footway when it is being reconstructed but pedestrian access will be maintained at all times on the opposite footway. Local access to all properties will be maintained throughout the works.
Mr Kennedy said: "The improvements will result in the overall strengthening of the road and road users will quickly realise the benefits of the new carriageway surface."
Towards the end of the scheme full road closures of Massey Avenue will be necessary on several days to enable the final surfacing to be laid on the carriageway. During this phase of the works local access will again be maintained to all properties.
