Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a £120,000 major resurfacing scheme on James Street, Cookstown.
The work is due to begin on 12 August between Molesworth Street and The Fair Hill.
The Minister said: "This scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this important arterial road into Cookstown town centre."
To help minimise any inconvenience to the travelling public and local businesses the majority of this work is programmed to be completed using a traffic control system.
The traffic control measures will begin on 12 August and continue until 17 August 2013. During this period two-way traffic flow will be maintained.
A full closure of James Street will be required from 19 August to 21 August to facilitate final surfacing. Diversions will be signposted via Fountain Road, Molesworth Street, Cemetery Road, Fairhill Road and Westland Road. Local access will be maintained.
The scheme is expected to be substantially completed on 21 August 2013.
