Earlier this month a Commemorative Ceremony was held on Spike Island to mark the 75th Anniversity of the Handover of Cork Harbour Treaty Forts. The event took place on 11th July with the principle guest An Taoiseach, Mr Enda Kenny TD.
In preparation for the event Graepel Perforators & Weavers worked with The OPW to design, manufacture and install a commemorative Picture-Perf panel on the pier at Spile Island. The image chosen was that of the last soldiers leaving the island 75 years ago, and can be seen in the picture with the 'Ladies of Cobh' in the foreground.
Three panels were used in this installation and each were 2.8m tall x 1.3m wide x 60mm deep with return flanges bolted together and attached to angle iron top and bottom. The material used was a marine grade aluminium and was powder coated after the image was punched. If you would like further infomation on this or any other of our Picture-Perf projects please do not hesitate to contact Fred Graepel on 021 4772105.
