Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland has announced funding of £60,000 for the refurbishment of walkways in the Churchlands area in Coleraine.
The project will be focused on the Killowen Street/Winston Way area in the Churchlands Neighbourhood Renewal Area of Coleraine, and work will include the removal of 1,600 square metres of flagged footways to be replaced with asphalt surfacing.
Eight sets of damaged steps will also be removed and replaced with precast concrete units, as well as improvements made to the drainage system in the area.
Confirming the funding, the Minister said: "These new improvements in the Churchlands area in Coleraine will enhance pedestrian access and local drainage issues. The project aims to improve the quality of life for everyone but particularly the elderly, those with disabilities, and families with young children."
This project was developed following consultation with local residents and in partnership with DRD Roads Service who will manage the delivery of the project.
