Ann Marie McNulty, from Magherafelt, recently swapped her day job as a Careers Adviser for the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL) for a week placement in Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) to get a flavour of the different careers within the company.

During the placement, Ann Marie had a whistle stop tour of NIE which included spending some time with the graduates who are working on planning the future of the electricity network, at the apprentice training centres in Ballymena and Campsie and at the Customer Service centre in Craigavon.

Ann Marie said: "I've really enjoyed my placement; it has enabled me to gain first hand experience of the range of careers at NIE and understand the skills that are needed for these careers. In my role as a Career's Advisor I want to offer the best careers information that I can to those who visit me for advice. This placement has given me a deeper appreciation not just of the work that NIE does to keep the lights on but of the exciting careers that Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects can lead to."
