Dunmore Recycling and Waste Disposal Centre has been shortlisted for the Recycling Centre of the Year by Repak who run the Award annually.
The centre was also shortlisted and received a certificate in recognition of its sustainable business practices.
Operating to serve householders and small to medium size businesses, the diverse number of recycling streams available continues to divert materials away from landfill while the refuse compactor provides a low cost solution for waste that can't be recycled.
A Repak Official recently toured the facility to observe the centre in action which was particularly busy with gardeners depositing their garden waste. Green waste is a relatively new service which was introduced last year with a bag of green waste charged at €2 while a tonne is charged at €70.
The Local Authority has to wait until October as the announcement of the winner will occur at an awards ceremony during Repak Recycling Week.
