Road Improvements Announced For A22 Comber Road

Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced that work on a £245,000 resurfacing scheme on the A22 Comber Road, Killyleagh is set to begin.

Resurfacing of a 1.5kilometre stretch of the A22 Comber Road from the football grounds to the junction with the Tullymacnous Road, will begin on Tuesday 29 October 2013, with work expected to be completed by Friday 22 November.

Temporary road closure will be necessary with through-traffic being diverted from 9.00am until 4.30pm daily from Tuesday 29 October to Friday 22 November, excluding Sundays. Diversions will be via U347 Frederick Street, B7 Shrigley Road, B6 Clealough Road, B6 Manse Road, B6 Killyleagh Road, B6 Station Road, B6 Todd’s Hill, A7 Belfast Road, A21 Ballygowan Road, A21 Saintfield Road, A21 Comber Road, A21 Ballygowan Road, A21 Braeside, A21 High Street, A21 Killinchy Street, A22 Killinchy Road, A22 Comber Road and A22 Killyleagh Road. All diversions will be clearly signposted.

Mr Kennedy said: "This £245,000 scheme represents a significant investment in the roads infrastructure in the Killyleagh and Comber area.

"Once work is complete, road users will quickly realise the long term benefits from the new road surface along the stretch."
