£2m Allocated For Daisyfield And Brandywell Showground Developments

Sinn Féin MLA Raymond McCartney (Foyle) has welcomed confirmation by DCAL Minister Carál Ní Chuilín of an allocation of £2m funding for development of the Daisyfield and Brandywell Showgrounds.

Mr McCartney said: "I welcome this announcement which means that the redevelopment of the entire Foyle Valley/Brandywell Masterplan has now been unlocked – in conjunction with Council funding of £2.8million.

"This is just the latest sign of the strong commitment that DCAL Minister Carál Ní Chuilín and Sinn Féin have to targeting regional inequalities and deprivation. It will have a massive impact in terms of promoting social inclusion, tackling health and social inequalities, building sporting excellence and maximising participation.

"Other Ministries and parties could take a lead from Carál in delivering meaningful and effective resources to sectors and areas of greatest need."
