A major refurbishment scheme to an 18th century bridge in Omagh has recently been completed.
The £180,000 maintenance and carriageway resurfacing scheme on the bridge began at the end of June and included the replacement of the defective concrete parapet walls of the bridge with masonry parapets. These provide a higher standard of vehicle containment and are also more in keeping with the character of the bridge.
The Minister said: "This scheme will not only improve safety but will help ensure that this wonderful 18th century bridge can continue to provide an important service to road users."
The works were completed ahead of schedule.
