£1m Funding Announced To Develop Pitches And Play Facilities

SDLP Shantallow councillor Angela Dobbins has welcomed news that Leafair Community Association has received £1m for development of the pitches and play facilities, which she says is much needed in the area.

Cllr Dobbins said: "It will be a tremendous boost for this area that for so long has been deprived of sports and play facilities."

Cllr Dobbins also spoke of her support for the allocation of funding to Na Piarsaigh GAA club and proposed facilities in Ballymagroarty.

"These developments, coupled with the announcement of a new leisure facility and synthetic grass pitches at Bay Road, will bring much needed employment for local construction companies and create long term employment within the local communities."
