Join The Club For Reduced Oil Costs

Local households can work together to get the most competitive prices for their home heating oil through oil buying clubs.

Around 68% of Northern Ireland's homes use oil as their main heat source. The cheapest way to buy oil is in bulk deliveries, such as 900 litres, because smaller quantities of oil cost more per litre for delivery. Some households are finding it increasingly difficult to budget for large one-off bulk deliveries of oil and may have no option but to buy smaller, more expensive quantities.

But there is a way to get around this, by becoming a member of a local oil buying club.

Oil buying clubs are designed to help consumers to reduce their costs by purchasing their oil orders in bulk as part of a group. By combining orders, club members can negotiate a lower price per litre than by ordering alone. In this way, local communities can take advantage of the discounts available on larger orders. This also allows more frequent deliveries, for example monthly, allowing households to get smaller amounts as part of a large delivery to their neighbourhood. These more frequent deliveries also make it easier to budget.
