Fine Gael TD for Roscommon/South Leitrim, Frank Feighan, has welcomed Roscommon County Council's decision to give the planning go-ahead to develop an ambulance base at the former Garda Station in Loughglynn, Co Roscommon.
Mr Feighan said: "I welcome the news that the HSE has now got formal planning to develop this long awaited ambulance base which will serve the west Roscommon and east Mayo region.
"As part of the planning permission granted for this major development, approval was given for a change of use of the former Garda station located in north Roscommon.
"The OPW has already agreed a five year lease with the National Ambulance Service to use the former Garda station as a regional ambulance base."
