Resurfacing Scheme In Belfast Begins

Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a £172,000 major resurfacing scheme on Donegall Park Avenue in north Belfast.

Work is due to begin on Monday 27 January 2014 between the Shore Road and the Antrim Road.

The Minister said: "Road users will benefit from the overall strengthening of the road structure and an improved carriageway surface."

To help minimise any inconvenience to the travelling public the work is programmed to be completed using both a one–way closure and full closure to carry out all the works.

Between 27-31 January, a one way closure from the Shore Road will be in operation to facilitate preparation works to the carriageway surface and associated ironwork. The work will be carried out each day between 9.30am and 4.30pm. During the closure, all traffic will be diverted using either Shore Road - Fortwilliam Park - Antrim Road or Shore Road - Grays Lane - Antrim Road.

Between 3-5 February a full closure will be in operation to carry out the laying of the asphalt wearing course. The work again will be carried out between 9.30am and 4.30pm each day. The diversion routes will be the same as for the one-way closure.
