Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has announced that a £120,000 improvement scheme for B17 Straid Road, Ballycastle is now underway.
Major resurfacing work is being carried out from B147 Ballinlea Road, Eastwards for approximately 1km to near Falltaggart Road. The scheme is expected to be substantially completed on 22 February.
Mr Kennedy said: "This scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on part of this important road."
To minimise any inconvenience to road users and local businesses, elements of this work, where possible, will be carried out using lane closures only.
To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors full closure of the Straid Road will be in place on 14 and 15 February and on 20-22 February while the carriageway surfacing works are completed.
During the closures a signed traffic diversion via B147 Ballinlea Road, U41 Lagavara Road and A2 Maghery Road will be in operation for through traffic.
