NIE And Roads Service Staff Praised For Road Repair Work

SDLP South Down MLA Karen McKevitt has praised the tireless professionalism of Roads Service and NIE staff who have been working around the clock to carry out repairs to the A2 Rostrevor road following the collapse of a section.

Mrs McKevitt said: "The Roads Service and NIE staff who have been with us at the scene over the last 2 days have worked tirelessly to ensure repairs have been completed as soon as possible to minimise disruption to motorists. They expect the road to be reopened this evening which is good news for commuters who have been frustrated and inconvenienced by the incident.

"This is a great example of statutory agencies working hand in glove to deliver for the public in a timely, efficient way. They've been battling against some extreme weather here over the last 48 hours and deserve a huge amount of credit for completing the repairs so quickly."
